I chose to work with Sue as a career coach because I would like to move in-house after many years of self employment. In just 3 sessions we have assessed my values and priorities for roles, improved my CV and prepared answers to tough interview questions.

Her advice is always up to date and in line with current trends and she regularly networks with professionals in the industry. Her style is nurturing and kind - she has really boosted my confidence and self esteem - but she is also happy to tell the truth, in the nicest way!

Sue is very astute and gets a grasp of people very quickly, even if you feel you are unusual, complex or misunderstood.

I am now at the stage where I am applying for roles, so watch this space!

The moment I met Sue, she put me at ease and gave me the confidence to find my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. She helped me to discover the qualities that I didn’t even realise I possessed in my professional work.

Our 1-2-1 sessions were extremely useful as she polished my CV and guided and advised me on how to present myself during interviews.

I really appreciate that she reviewed my proposal and gave valuable feedback to my final presentation before my job interview.

I would highly recommend Sue. After three months of career coaching, she is the reason that I finally got a job.

Thanks ever so much for your guidance over the last few months and being a fantastic sounding board. I hope we can keep in touch.

After five months of unsuccessful job applications I decided to contact Sue through a recommendation. After a two-part CV session with Sue I was approached by four high profile companies to attend their interviews. I couldn't be any happier to see the improved version of my CV on the interviewers' desks!

The techniques Sue used to boost my confidence certainly helped me sell myself better than I ever used to, but more importantly she made me focus on what I really want out of my career and how my skills are most beneficial/relevant to the positions that I had applied for.

Before my final interviews I went back to Sue for a couple more sessions of interview practice and learn some strategies on how to succeed in interviews. Sue's detailed method of coaching paid off and in the end I found my confidence and enthusiasm during the interviews. As a result of this, I ended up with three job offers, and I’ve now accepted my dream job! I couldn't be happier!

Sue is an outstanding career coach and I wish I’d approached her earlier.

“I just wanted to write and say a big thank you for all your help and support. Having someone who was skilled and qualified to help me work through my transition and find something that wasn’t just another job but would be a long term career move has been great..It’s very easy for people to rush from one job to another without thinking through their long term goals and objectives or marrying together their personal and professional priorities. The service really helped me reflect and work out what I wanted to do and then provided support in terms of pulling together a marketing plan to help me get there.

I wish I had done all this 10 years ago! I started my new job yesterday and I hope to be there a very long time"
Ruth P., Cable & Wireless

"The interview went really well so thank you so much for all your guidance and advice - it was invaluable and undoubtedly helped me hugely with both my content and delivery.

All being well I will start the course at the end of this month - thanks again for your expert advice."

“I’d like to thank Sue for her valuable help and support. The most beneficial part was having access to a calm, listening, knowledgeable professional who was an expert at steering me through the process”

Hi Sue

I wanted to formally thank you for all your help and support. I know from speaking to many of the staff here how much they benefited from their meetings with you, myself included. At such a difficult and worrying time, to have your advice was so welcome and I am sure it has reassured many here.

As you know, the majority staff have secured new positions, so will soon be embarking on new jobs in the very near future. For those still looking or planning to do so, I am confident they will all be armed with lots more “ammunition” thanks to you !

I will certainly be in contact when I start updating my CV later this year, so for the time being, thank you and all the very best from all at Accenture in Bedford.

Kind regards

Hi Sue

I would like to thank you for your guidance and support over the past few weeks. I now have a much clearer understanding of my strengths and feel more positive in moving forward to re-evaluate my career opportunities. You have been wonderfully informative with advice and by providing me with practical work sheets and materials that I will continue to use to help me with all future goals. For this reason I would highly recommend your service to everyone (like me) who is a little lost and looking for a new job and/or career path.

Best wishes

Morning Sue

I wanted to drop you a quick line to say a very big thank you for the structured and inspirational career coaching you recently gave me following my redundancy at work.
The strategies and formulas you used were presented in a clear, friendly and logical manner which in turn gave me the confidence to apply for further employment.
Just last week I heard that I was successful in securing a position and know that without your help and guidance this would not have been the case!

Thanks again Sue for teaching me to recognise my skills ,strengths and achievements.

My very best wishes
Donna R.

"After a four hour 2nd interview on Friday I am delighted to say I have just had a call offering me the job and at the top end of the salary range.

This is fantastic news and I would like to thank you for all your help and support because without a doubt it is thanks to my time with you that I was able to shine in the interviews."

"Sue has helped me gain perspective on my unfortunate position and opened the door for me in moving on."

"Thanks very much for organising the workshop on Friday last. It was an excellent session, providing a huge range of tools and processes by which to create a CV, approach the marketplace, network effectively and prepare for interviews. I now feel that, rather than being overwhelmed by everything, I have a manageable - and inspiring - project plan for finding work. All in all, I felt it was an invaluable day."

“.......I would love it if you could come and see the business I have created so that I can thank you personally for all the help and guidance you gave me after leaving Goldman and was trying to find my way. You really helped me tremendously and I really value your help.”
Bruce C., formerly Goldman Sachs, now founder of Senses Wellbeing Therapy

"I had never considered using a careers coach before I went to Sue. She was recommended by a good friend and so I gave it a go. I was going through a very complicated career change at the time and a failed business venture to boot meant my confidence, clarity and motivation were at an all time low.

During our sessions I realised exactly where I was going wrong - not just in my job search, but also in my whole way of thinking and behaving. Sue challenged my attitudes and helped me define what it was I was really looking for - as well as why I wasn't getting it.

Just an hour spent with Sue motivated me to the point that I went from applying to one job a month to up to 6 jobs a week. Her advice was not generic or pre-defined, but rather tailored to my situation and to me as an individual. This meant I got exactly what I needed in just a few sessions.

Within a few months I was offered not one, but three incredibly exciting roles - one of which I accepted. This role is about 70% my dream job and I couldn't be happier. Sue pointed out how aiming for 100% was paralysing me and she was right!

Overall Sue is a fantastic coach who I cannot recommend highly enough.”

“Sue visited our team for an introductory one day session which proved extremely beneficial. We are all at a career crossroad and with Sue’s help we were able to assess our current skills. She was very calm and listened to all of our fears and concerns, and by the end of the day we all realised that we have more to offer than we ever imagined. We can’t wait for the next session! Thanks Sue”

"I was in my last year of school, aiming to get a place on an internship scheme for my gap year at top accountancy and business firms. My experience just scraped the minimum requirements and the competition was very fierce. I got to the interview stage but lacked interview technique so decided to get some help and found Sue Gouldman.

Sue showed me how to answer questions clearly and concisely. Using a variety of methods she was able to pick out where I went wrong, then with practice I was able to approach any question.

Not only that, but thanks to Sue I have gained much needed confidence and am now able to excel beyond my peers.

Thanks to sessions with Sue I passed the interview and group stages of the next company that came up and will be starting on the IBM internship scheme this September.

Thank you very much Sue, I am grateful beyond words."

“I just wanted to let you know my news. Last time I spoke to you I was about to attend my second interview.....and I found out yesterday that I have been successful and have been offered the position of Deputy Head of Biological Services.

I am so chuffed and still pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming! I had some lovely feedback from the interview panel. They said I was confident, came across really well and have impressed the Vice President.

After being selected for redundancy I have really fallen on my feet and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the support and advice you have given me over the weeks and the interview practice - it obviously paid off! I have also had some great feedback on my new CV and again thanks to you for helping me with it. I really do appreciate everything you have done to help me.”

"I met Sue Gouldman as a result of my department's positions being made redundant following a strategic review within GlaxoSmithKline. This resulted in myself and another 30 people being out of work. I have been impressed by the insight that Sue has brought to me and my staff. Her knowledge, coaching abilities and sheer professionalism have taken many people through the trauma of redundancy and back into work quickly under trying economic circumstances. For many of them, Sue's input has resulted in positive career changes to jobs which people really want to do.

I am personally grateful for Sue's support and would recommend her to others in similar circumstances."
David G. GlaxoSmithKline

As part of my role as Alumni Relations Manager at The John Lyon School I am always looking at innovative ways to connect with the boys in the school. This year as part of Enrichment Week I organised two career days for the Year 12s (Lower VIth). I invited Sue to come in to the school to run a CV Workshop. The day was split into 3 main sections:

  • Introduction to CVs
  • Practical construction of CVs
  • The Next Steps

Sue at John Lyon School, HarrowWith approximately 80 students in attendance this was the largest single group that Sue had worked with. Not that I needed to have been concerned because Sue approached it with her usual cool, calm and collected manner. Immediately connecting with the audience and explaining the whole functionality of CVs in such a way that by the end of the day the majority of the students had produced a quite detailed and clear CV which they then used in mock interviews the following day.

The afternoon sessions were smaller discussion groups with Sue and I working in partnership to illustrate the many ways by which employment opportunities can be identified. Sue undertook a very simple but effective exercise whereby each student had to find out something they did not know about a fellow student – bear in mind that the majority had been at the school together since they came in at 11+ it surprised them all just how little they knew of each other. From that exercise alone the students soon began to understand the importance of networking.

We look forward to repeating this day with a new group next year and I know that many of the students will benefit from making this initial connection with Sue Gouldman.

I would highly recommend Sue not only for her one to one career coaching but also for activities such as ours.
